  • Main Street Newton depends on volunteers who are dedicated and willing to work on events and activities to make the downtown a place where families will gather, shoppers will stroll the streets, festivals and entertainment will flourish and great food will entice neighbors from far and near. Please get involved to make a difference in your community.
  • Main Street Newton is always happy to meet and discuss with you, your thoughts and perhaps areas of concern that are important to you that will also help make our community a better place. We will try to help you achieve results.

 

Specific Tasks Potential Volunteer Projects

· Building Inventory: work with the Econimc Restructuring Team to inventory the buildings dimensions and the rents requested

· Parking Study: Work with the Economic Restructuring Team doing a parking inventory of our three major parking lots plus on street

· Merchant Survey: Brief survey all the merchants on Spring Street with a survey provided by Main Street (Economic Restructuring Team).

· Shoppers Exit Survey:  Interview shoppers along Spring Street as the walk from one shop to another (Economic Restructuring Team).

· Commercial Building Readiness Assessment:  Photograph each vacant building  along Spring Street Interior and exterior and describe the condition(Economic Restructuring Team).

· Block conditions: Walk the district and take photographs to reference your comments about the overall condition of buildings and other elements that effect our visual appeal.

· Gateway assessment: All roads lead to Newton, do a visual survey of all roads as they lead you into downtown Newton looking for signage to our shopping district and parking areas

· Office work: Including Q-Books, writing press releases

· Goodwill Ambassadors: Walk the shopping district offering assistance to the shoppers with store locations and other local information to make their shopping experience more enjoyableStreet
